Our exciting new water portal – Everything you need to know about saving water and living sustainably!

The effects of #ClimateChange are easy to see

Over the past few years, (completely awesome) South Africans have had water on their minds. And for good reason.

The 2015/16 drought was an event that could hardly be ignored: water restrictions were put in place all over the country; the farmers that we rely upon to put food on our tables were thrown into unimaginably desperate circumstances; and, for the first time in generations, many of us began preparing for a worst case scenario.

Then the heavens finally smiled down on us, replenishing many of our essential fresh water reserves. But, as we all know, this smile didn’t fall on everyone. The Eastern and Western Capes are, to understate the matter, in dire straits. Two entire provinces are experiencing droughts the likes of which haven’t been seen in over a century.

Compounding the situation, extremely heavy rains and intense cloud bursts showed that too much water is also an immensely destructive force.

But we can make a difference

What’s to come? Plenty of expert tips to help your #ISaveWater efforts

The simple truth of the matter is that, owing to #ClimateChange, we need to deepen our water-consciousness. Central to this increased awareness is the need to urgently address our habits and attitudes concerning the unfolding challenges.

The great news is that understanding and awareness can lead to actions. The even better news is that our individual actions become collective actions, and that our collective actions lead to results we might once have considered impossible.

Keep an eye out for our brilliant new partnership with Builders

It is with this in mind that we’ve partnered with Builders to produce something out of this world. You’ll now have access to a body of informative and interesting articles on a weekly basis to answer every question you may have regarding #ISaveWater and the evolving water situation in our beautiful country.

What’s to come? Our articles will be posted on Facebook and Twitter. Make sure to share and comment!

To make life easier, these amazing (and useful) articles will be housed in a #ISaveWater-dedicated section of your favourite Caxton online newspaper. We’d like to thank Builders for their involvement in this ambitious, but vitally important, project – and we hope that you’ll not only engage with it as often as possible, but will share your favourite articles with friends and family.

Our primary aim here is to get the right information out there to as many people as possible. We strongly believe that increased knowledge about water is essential to meeting the challenge that lies ahead. And meet the challenge we must – both for ourselves and for future generations.

It’s up to us to make a difference, and we’d like to invite you to join us in taking the bull by the horns.
